We arrived in Anchorage under clear blue skies and warm temperatures… although as of this writing, the overcast has moved in so I am starting to feel more at home. Our approach into Anchorage brought us right along Turnagain Arm with the Chugach Mountains standing majestically and greeting our arrival. During the descent, I pointed out several familiar landmarks to Kat– and even a few that I had no idea what I was talking about but said it with enough conviction to sound like I knew what I was talking about. I even pointed out a couple of polar bears, but she refuses to believe that even though they are clearly visible in the picture from the plane. Really! Try squinting at the picture REALLY hard.
We were greeted at the airport by my aunt and uncle (from my maternal side of the family—not the wolf pack that raised me during my impressionable years), who treated us to the most wonderful lunch overlooking Lake Spenard. We had a great visit and were also joined by a cousin who managed to sneak away from the office. Though admittedly, I missed some of the conversations as I was memorized by the constant flow of float planes coming and going.
The rest of the day consisted of picking up the motor home—which is incredibly nice and will make a great home away from home—and buying roughly 83% of the entire inventory at Fred Meyers to stock up for the upcoming adventure.
This posting is also a test of my iphone tethering, so I hope to burn up some precious bandwidth and update the map this evening too (see the map page).
Looks like a great rv may be we should add to our next red neck game.
Material side of the family? As apposed to ?
Typo corrected to maternal (and several others corrected too). But thanks for pointing out that I am not infallible–though I will probably still deny it!
I am glad you arrived safely! I pray that the rest of your journey will be just as safe. I am very much enjoying the updates of your journey, looking forward to keeping track of your furture adventures. I Squinted very hard. No Polar Bears!! You can’nt trick a trickister. Much love, Aunt Phyl
